During the Organization of American States 45th General Assembly  in Washington D.C., member states elected new members to the Inter-American Court and Commission on Human Rights.

For the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the elected members were Enrique Gil Botero (Colombia), Margarette May Macaulay (Jamaica), Esmeralda Arosemena de Troitiño (Panama) y Francisco Eguiguren Praeli (Peru). For the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni (Argentina), Eduardo Vio Grossi (Chile), Elizabeth Odio Benito (Costa Rica) y Patricio Pazmiño Freire (Ecuador).
